# 61 -- Go to a concert
Gary, Jenn and I attended the Sara Evans concert at Frostburg State University on October 3, 3009. It was a very good concert which we all enjoyed. We stayed afterwards to try and get her autograph; but, believe it or not, security was so tight, we didn't even see her after the concert was over. Her bus was behind the Lane Center and she was escorted out of the building and onto the bus without anyone even seeing her. We were amazed that just two days earlier, we had gotten an autograph and a picture taken with Erin Andrews who was covering the WVU-Colorado game in Morgantown, but security was so tight in the small town of Frostburg, Md that we didn't even SEE Sara after the concert!!!!
# 27 -- Attempt to get Michael Phelps autograph
Well, my friends, this was quite an adventure. After my husband sold three Sports Illustrated magazines of Michael Phelps, he did some detective work to find out if he was going to be in our area signing autographs. And sure enough, he was. He was at a grand opening of a GNC store at Ross Park Mall near Pittsburgh on Saturday, September 26, 2009. So, we hopped into the car at 5 am that morning and headed to Pittsburgh. We were told that he would sign one autograph (of your choice); however, when we got there and after standing for over three hours in line, we were then told the autograph would be a picture that he had brought with him and no other pictures or memorabilia would be signed. This was OK with me, but it didn't set too well with some of the other 500 people who had brought their own items to be signed.
# 18 -- Put my pictures on my computer onto my external hard drive
This was a VERY HARD one for me to complete. For those of you that know me very well, you will agree that I love to take pictures and I am not one to get rid of them -- from anything ... camera, computer hard drive, etc. So, this task was a very hard one for me to even start to attempt. I was given an external hard drive for Christmas so it wasn't that I didn't have the necessary equipment to complete this task -- it was that I was afraid that, somehow, I would LOSE my pictures going from the computer to the hard drive. But, I decided to give it my best shot. It was a very easy process to complete; however, I must admit that I also copied my pictures onto flash drives BEFORE I transferred them to the external hard drive "just in case" there was a problem. Of course there wasn't a problem as everything transferred correctly -- so now I have "two" copies of all my pictures that I treasure so much!!!!
# 69 -- Shampoo my carpets
One of the last days of our summer vacation before we returned to school in August, my husband and I rented a carpet shampooer and spent the entire day (and some of the night) shampooing the carpets in our home. It really is amazing how dirty they get in between times this is done. It does show me that I need to do this more often than I do!!!
# 99 -- Take a picture of a fawn and frame it
After many weeks of trying this summer, I was FINALLY able to get a picture of a fawn that was good enough for me to frame. This picture was taken on a bank along New Creek. There were a pair of fawns there in the same spot for about a week and I would go every day and take their picture. I was fortunate these were so close in the fact that whenever we would see one along the highway someplace, by the time Gary would turn around or back up to get their picture, they were aware of out presence and would run. These, however, would just lay there almost as if they were posing!

# 29 -- Visit Nashville, TN
While visiting my sister and brother-in-law in Marion, IL, we took a road trip to Nashville, TN (three hours from where they live). Tim's brother Frank and his family live in Nashville and they were gracious enough to host us during our trip.
The first day we spent shopping at the Opry Mills Mall. Day two was spent touring Nashville with Frank as our tour guide. We saw Opryland Hotel, Country Music HOF, Ryman Auditorium, Sommet Center (Nashville Predators), LP Field (Titans Field), Tootsie's Lounge and ate at the Wild Horse Salon. Kerry, MacKenzie and I even line danced while waiting for our food!!!
We had a great time and can't wait to go back!!!
# 2 -- Visit my sister and brother-in-law in Marion, Illinois
Gary and I visited my sister Kerry and brother-in-law Tim in Marion, Illinois July of 2009. We did lots of fun things together while there -- shopping, attended some of the MLB All-Star festivities in St. Louis, MO, more shopping, visited Nashville, TN (# 29 on my list), more shopping, etc.
Kerry fixed many yummy dinners while we were there; but I was able to stick to my diet. We went to Curves five times while I was there and I was able to walk at least 2 miles each day for a total of 39.15 miles.
My neice Lori, her husband Scott and son Micah came from Beckley, WV to visit her Mom & Dad the last day we were there, so I was able to spend a little bit of time with them before we left to come home.

I was able to lose 5.9% of my body weight in the latest "Biggest Loser" contest at Curves. This equated to 10.7 pounds. This was good enough for second place and I was awarded $55 for my efforts!!!!

Well, summer is almost over as I start back to school Friday, but have made it to Curves three times a week for the SEVENTEENTH week in a row. I am challenging myself to keep it up when school is in session!!! (8/20/09)
The streak continues!!! While on vacation in Hilton Head, SC, I went to Curves three days making this the SIXTEENTH week I have gone to Curves at least three times a week!!! Now the challenge will be to keep going once school starts!!! (8/13/09)
For the FIFTEENTH week in a row, I went to Curves at least three times a week -- actually this week I made it all five days!!!!! Next week I will be in Hilton Head, SC on vacation so we will see if the streak will continue or end! (8/7/09)
This week was the FOURTEENTH week in a row that I have been to Curves for at least three days. Only four more weeks left in the summer -- can I do it????(7/30/09)
I have now been to Curves at least three days a week for THIRTEEN weeks!!! I hope to keep this up throughout the entire summer!!!! (7/23/09)
While visiting my sister in Illinois, I went to Curves a total of five times, three during the week of July 13-17, marking this the TWELTH week in a row I have gone to Curves at least three times a week!!!! (7/17/09)
Today marked the ELEVENTH week in a row I have gone to Curves at least three times a week. This week I went four times (two of those were with my sister Kerry in Marion, Il while I was visiting her) (7/10/09)
I have now gone to Curves three times a week for TEN weeks in a row!!! (7/2/09) These next two weeks will be challenging as I will be on vacation, but since my sister also belongs to Curves and I am going to visit her, maybe I will make it three times a week the next two weeks~~~
I have now gone to Curves three times a week for NINE weeks in a row. (6/26/09)
This task was easy to accomplish. I like going to Curves, so the end of April I decided to start this challenge. I made it three times a week, sometimes more, for EIGHT weeks in a row!!! Since it is summer time and I am off from school, I see no reason that I can't do this task again for another 8 weeks in a row! Stay tuned!!!!

# 86 -- Get a new haircut
I can't believe I did it! I am not sure yet that I did the right thing -- I will have to give it a couple days to see if I can get it to look the way it did when I left the salon. Jenn took me to Walmart and we got a flat iron which she says is what I need to use. We will see!!!! Stay tuned!!!

# 9 -- Meet my grand nephew, Micah
FINALLY, after almost an entire year, I met my grand nephew, Micah, and ohhhhh, what a cutie he is!!!! Micah is my niece Lori's baby who was born last June. They had his first birthday party on May 24, 2009 so my sister and brother-in-law (Micah's Nana & Pap) could be there since they live in Illinois and were visiting for the Memorial Day weekend. Gary and I took Tyler and Lucas with us and spent Saturday night in Beckley and then attended the party Sunday afternoon. It was a very enjoyable time and I got to see and talk to many family and friends I hadn't seen since Lori and Scott's wedding on December 9, 2006.

# 53 -- Clean out my pantry
Wow! What a chore! It took me 5 1/2 hours, but once I started cleaning out the pantry, I couldn't quit until I had taken things out, vacuumed, washed off the shelves and put everything back in. I threw away many food items that had expired so I have a lot more room now and can finds things easier. Hopefully I can keep it this way!

# 30 -- Keep my new car clean
Well, I can't actually take credit for the actual "cleaning" of my car this time -- but it is clean. While I attended a baby shower Saturday afternoon, April 25, my husband took my car to the car wash and gave it a bath -- inside and out. It looks like new. Now, let's see if I can keep it that way!
# 4 -- Visit my parents grave site more often and tell them about Tyler and Lucas
Today was a beautiful day so I decided to walk (yes I said walk) the one and three quarter miles to the cemetery (and back) where my parents are buried to put spring flowers on the grave. It was ONLY 86 degrees when I ventured out on this journey, but after several stops to rest, we finally made it. Gary and I put the flowers in the vase on the tombstone and while I sat there for a while resting, I told "Grannie" and Papaw" all about Tyler and Lucas. They would have LOVED these little guys. It makes my heart ache that they were never able to meet them. I guess I will just have to make more trips back to the cemetery to tell them more about the boys. Only next time, I think I will drive!!!

# 15 -- Go to church every Sunday for a month
This task took me a little while to complete, but I was able to get to church four Sundays in a row from 3/29 through 4/19. I attended Grace United Methodist on March 29 and April 5. I attended Gainesville United Methodist Church on Easter Sunday, April 12 and again on April 19 when my youngest grandson Lucas Austin Gibbs was christened. I also attended Maundy Thursday service at Grace on April 9.
I attended Grace UM Church today, April 26,2009, and now have attended church for the fifth Sunday in a row.
I attended Grace UM church today, May 3, 2009, and have now attended church for the sixth Sunday in a row.
I attended Gainesville United Methodist Church today (Mother's Day), May 10, 2009 with Gary Kerri, Les, Tyler and Lucas and have attended church now for the seventh Sunday in a row.
Well, I made it every Sunday for two months in a row today! I attended Grace UM Church today and helped with a reception for the high school and college graduates and Burlington UM Children's Cottage.

#76 -- Try a new food
I NEVER thought I would eat rice, but I did and actually liked it. One of the service groups in town was having a fundraising soup luncheon and the two choices were bean soup and stuffed pepper soup. Well, I knew I wouldn't care for the bean soup so I selected the stuffed pepper soup. When it was delivered to me at school for lunch, I was surprised how good it smelled. When I opened it, I noticed it had rice in it. I am not sure what I was expecting because I know stuffed peppers often have rice in them, but I was a little shocked when I saw it in the soup. At first I tried to pick it out, but after a minute or two of that, I decided to just try it and I actually liked it. Now, would I fix rice for dinner tomorrow night -- NO; but at least I tried a new food and survived to write about it.
# 52 -- Buy a new recliner
This was an interesting purchase. I had a VERY bad day at work (without going into details -- a substitute aide and myself didn't quite see eye to eye on a couple things) and was talking to the principal when a man came in the building and announced he was from North Carolina and had a truckload of new furniture that they were trying to sell (at cost) so they didn't have to carry it back due to a failed sales commitment from a company. Anyway, when he said they had lazyboy recliners that retailed for $699 for $199, I came home, got Gary, went back and within 30 minutes I had a brand new recliner in my living room! Perfect ending to a very bad day!
# 59 -- Try a new recipe once every three months
I fixed tilapia with lemon pepper seasoning on the grill tonight (May 31, 2009) and Gary and I both liked it. I will definitely fix this again!!!
I am well ahead of pace for trying a new recipe for the second three months of this task. Today, April 25,2009 I fixed honey teriyaki steak salad with poppy seed dressing and fries. It was very yummy -- and quick. I am sure this will be one I fix again and again!
Well, I waited until almost the very last moment to try my first recipe for the first three months of this challenge, but I made it. I tried a new buttercream frosting recipe for Jennifer's birthday cake I made on April 5, 2009. It was very yummy!!! Everyone seemed to approve so looks like I will be adding this to my recipe book (Jennifer's too!)

# 34 -- Finish Jennifer's recipe book I have been working on for three years
This was actually a fun task to complete. I had been assembling a recipe book for Jennifer since she graduated from Fairmont State University in 2005 but had never finished it. Well, I got myself into gear, finished the book and gave it to Jennifer for her 27th birthday on April 5, 2009. Not the question is -- how long will it take her to use it?!?!?!?!

# 91 -- Recycle More
I went to IKEA today (May 9) and found some neat containers to put my recycling items in. Now maybe I can get them out of a plastic bag and off my kitchen chair!!!
Gary and I took several bags of tin and aluminum to the recycling center today. Most were pop cans, but actually had a couple bags of tin cans too. Even though we only got $6.00 for them, I feel it is a start!!! I will continue to save my cans for a future trip to the recycling center.

# 95 --Get taxes done BEFORE April 15th!
This was painless also -- just took some motivation to get it finished. I had my taxes done today, April 4th -- 11 days ahead of schedule!!! Even though we still owe, it wasn't near as much as usual. I guess adjusting the withholdings really did help -- now I just need to do some fine tuning so next year we will get money back!!!!

# 97 Completed -- Get my teeth cleaned
This was a relatively easy task to complete. On February 25, 2009 I had my teeth cleaned. Let's hope this isn't the only time I have this done before October, 2011.

# 41 Completed -- Babysit my grandsons for a weekend
I hope there will be many more of these opportunities to come in the future, but for now I will mark the weekend of March 13-15 as the first. Les took Kerri to New York City to celebrate her 30th birthday. Between Jennifer, her boyfriend Nick, Gary and I we watched the boys for those three days. Yes, there were four of us; but with two very active little boys, it worked out well! No major catastrophies and only a couple "I want Mommy" when things didn't please Tyler (bedtime, bathtime, dinner time, etc). I would say it was definitely a successful and exciting weekend for everyone involved! Can't wait to do it again!!!

# 98 Completed -- Organize and give Kerri Anne her baby book that I have been trying to "let go" of for over 2 1/2 years now!
Well, I finally was able to let go! For two and a half years since Kerri's son Tyler was born, I have been wanting to give her the baby book I kept for her. On her 30th birthday, March 14, 2009 I thought it was time since she has two beautiful boys of her own. I hope she treasures it as much as I did all these years!

# 100 Completed -- Take Lucas to see ducks on the creek and feed them.
Lucas, Tyler and Mommy came to Pap's game on March 11, 2009. Even though we lost the game, I am happy to say we were able to take Lucas down to the creek to feed the ducks for the first time. This is something Tyler has always enjoyed when he comes to visit Nana and Pap. Hopefully Lucas will enjoy it just as much!

# 56 Completed -- Feed the ducks the bread I save for them BEFORE it gets moldy!
Today, May 12, 2009 we took a walk looking for ducks to feed. I know, you are wondering how can any one person have enough stale bread to feed the ducks every week, right? Well, actually it isn't all stale, but I needed something so I took what was the stalest (is that even a word?). We saw a group of baby ducks (12 in all), but Mommy took them across to the other side of the creek, so we didn't get to feed them. We had some others takers though -- they can always use some bread!!!!
On May 6, 2009 I saw a Mother duck and 6 babies on my way to work. That evening, Gary and I walked down by the creek to see if we could find them and feed them some bread and crackers. We didn't find that duck, but we did find a Mother with 13 babies. I am sure spring with bring many more Mothers with the baby ducks!
Gary and I fed the ducks again on March 8, 2009 since it was such a lovely day! And no mold this time either!!!
Since the weather was snowy and cold this morning, I decided to go and feed the ducks the bread I had saved for them -- and guess what? It wasn't even moldy! There were many hungry ducks fighting for my bread. I am sure since Spring is right around the corner, I will be back to feed the ducks again very soon!

# 14 Completed -- Start scrapbook for the current KHS basketball season.
After completing the scrapbook for the 2007-08 basketball season (Task # 13), it was time to start the one for the 2008-09 season. It wasn't a hard task, just one that required the time and space to do it. While helping my daughter and her family move into their new house this weekend, I knew I would have some free time (while they were sleeping) so I decided to get the "show on the road" so to speak!
I had been collecting the newspapers with the articles, so the first chore was to cut all of the articles out. I spread them out on her large dining room table and the process began by cutting out the articles. I then placed them on scrapbook pages and begin putting them into the scrapbook. Once that was done, I took some basketball stickers and decorated the pages.
I am not finished with this task by any means, but I do have a very good start on it!!!!!

# 13 Completed -- Finish the KHS basketball scrapbook I started last year.
I FINALLY took the time to finish the final three pages of the Keyser High School basketball scrapbook I compiled for last year's team. I kept up with it throughout the season and post season, but hadn't added the final pages for the post-season honors. Now that this one is completed, I better get a start on the one for 2008-09!!!!!

#70 -- Sleep 8 hours at night
Well, this may be an easy task for most of you, but for me it seemed virtually impossible. However, from 10:30 pm on February 16 till 8:30 am on February 17, I actually feel like I slept at least 8 of the 10 hours between that time span. I did wake up 2-3 times to go to the bathroom, but went right back to sleep. What I can't say for sure is why I slept that well. Was it because I was just so worn out from the pain from the kidney stone surgery, or all the pain medication I had in me that day, or my body just realizing I needed to sleep? I guess time will tell if this will happen on a regular basis. I have my doubts it won't :-(

# 72 Completed -- Clear off my kitchen table so that four people could eat there if necessary
This one wasn't so bad either -- it just took some time to "declutter" and throw away a few things. I have a bad habit of keeping store coupons, brochures, ads, etc just in case I may need something from one of the stores and they just keep piling up and up and up!!! I now have a very neat and "uncluttered" table. I just wonder how long I can keep it that way!!!
# 54 Completed -- Clean off top of the microwave cart
This wasn't as much of a chore as I thought it would be. I organized some of my favorite cookbooks and left them there and threw away ALOT of old receipts I had layed on there. I also found four coupons for a "Free DQ sandwich". Guess what I am having tonight???
# 43 Completed -- Eat something for breakfast every day for two weeks in a row -- almost
I am pleased to note that I have continued to eat something for breakfast everyday from February 16 through March 1, 2009. By doing so, this satisfies my "14 continuous days" that I wanted to eat something for breakfast. Hopefully now that I am used to it, I will continue to eat breakfast!
Between February 1 and February 15, 2009 I ate something for breakfast 14 out of 15 days. The only day I didn't was on February 12, 2009 when I had surgery for removal of a kidney stone and wasn't allowed to eat anything after midnight on February 11th and by the time I was allowed to eat following the surgery, it was lunch time. Therefore, I extended it one day and ate something 14 out of 15 days. Hopefully I will continue to eat breakfast everyday and will be able to "update" this task with a stretch of 14 continuous days.

# 87 - Valentine's Day
Well, I didn't have to buy myself flowers for Valentine's Day. Gary brought me a mug of flowers home with him today from school so I know I am loved!!!
# 93 Completed -- Start a Vacation Fund
On February 9, 2009 I opened a vacation club with a initial deposit of $100.

# 38 -- Tell someone about this list and then they do one.
Ivy Guiler composed her list of "101 Things to do in 1001 Days" on February 6, 2009!

#64 Completed -- Add pictures to my KHS basketball blog
On March 3, 2009, I added pictures of the Sectional win over Frankfort to my blog.
For anyone who may be interested, I started a blog last year for a class I took featuring the Keyser High School Boy's basketball team. My husband is the head coach and I am the team statistician so I thought this would be a perfect choice. I added a team picture and also a picture of three basketball players who signed letters of intent to play football at the next level. If you want to view my blog, please go to: http://khsbasketball.blogspot.com/

# 36 Completed -- Finish this list!!! This is harder that I ever dreamed it would be!
Wow, was that hard! I finally came up with "101 things to do" so I am finished my list! Hopefully I can accomplish most, if not all, of my tasks by October 8, 2011.
#51 Completed -- Get a reading lamp for the family room
I bought a floor light with a reading lamp so that I could read better at night when I can't sleep. Hopefully by reading a little each night, I will become sleepy and fall asleep quicker. One can only hope!!!
# 35 Completed -- Replace blind on my front door
I replaced the blind on my front door today. I just hope that Justice won't ruin this one like he did the last one by looking underneath it to see outside!

# 1 Completed -- Take down my Christmas tree BEFORE Valentine's Day!
Well, that's done!!!! I have taken down my Christmas tree, vacuumed and moved the furniture back to its original place and it is ONLY January 24, 2009!!!! Three weeks BEFORE Valentine's Day!! What has gotten into me?????
# 74 Completed -- Visit someone in a nursing home.
I am not really sure if this really counts, but until I visit someone I really know in a nursing home -- I am going to count this! The Life Skills class my student is in at KPMS visited Heartland of Keyser nursing home today. They made a bag and had a bottle of lotion and a pair of the gripper socks in it. They also made a card. The activities director selected eight residents to receive the bags and cards and we met them in the lounge today. They enjoyed talking to our students.
I did know two of the residents today -- one was the French teacher at Keyser High when I was in school and the other was the Mother of one of the teachers at KPMS.
I have visited a dear old friend, Nola Clark, at Heartland of Keyser on April 10, 2009 and again on May 3, 2009. She had a stroke in early April, but gets to go home on May 8, 2009.

# 7 Completed -- Reconnect with an old friend
I talked with Dawna Grayson Day tonight on Facebook and we are going to get together and catch up on old times soon. It is nice to reconnect with old friends!
I have connected with a couple other friends from high schooland college on Facebook -- Gerri (Rosenberger) Silvious and Cheryl (Grady) Fleming.

# 55 Completed -- Find the title to the Intrepid or get another one
The first place I looked was where I found the title -- in the cookie jar on top the fridge! Can you tell when I bake cookies they don't end up in the cookie jar????

# 57 Completed -- Match the "mis-matched" socks on my dresser
Absolutely unbelievable!!! It totally amazed me that ANYONE in the world could have 181 socks in a pile and after matching 44 pair, STILL have 93 with no mates!!! Where do they go? I have always said the dryer eats them -- now I am convinced! I am glad that task is completed! However, I bet I complete this again before October 8, 2011!!!

# 11 Completed -- Take down and wash my shower curtain.
I love snow days! I get so much done. I decided today would be a good day to take down and wash my shower curtain -- so, #11 is completed!!!

# 42 Completed -- Organize my bra and underwear drawer.
Well, I wish I had done this BEFORE I bought some new underwear this afternoon as I found several pair that had gotten buried under my bras. And Kerry, tell Jeannette that I am wearing the bras she helped me pick out when I was visiting you the summer of 2007!
# 26 Completed -- Organize my sock drawer.
Dec. 5, 2009 It has been almost 11 months since I sorted my "single" socks, so I thought I would do it again. Ironically, it also snowed today just like the last time I performed this task. Today I had 212 "single" socks of which I was able to match 49 pair! That is the good news; the bad news is that I still have 114 "single" socks :-(
Jan. 15, 2009 We had a snow day today so I thought it would be a good time to tackle this task. It didn't take too long and I actually found some socks I thought I had, but hadn't seen in a very, very long time. It will be good to wear some new socks!

# 10 Completed - - Unclog my bathroom sink.
# 10 is off the list! When I started to put some Drano down the bathroom sink tonight, I decided to see if I could figure out what was clogging it up. Well, not only did I figure it out -- I took care of the problem and am able to cross #10 off my list!
I could see the cap to the toothpaste down there so I got a pair of scissors and got it out; THEN, I fished out the plastic cap to a disposable razor and THEN a got a whole toothbrush! Is there any wonder why my sink was clogged up?? And now I don't even need to use the Drano!

# 37 Completed -- Score 10,000 on Word Challenge
Well, I finally hit 10,067 on Word Challenge at 12:11 am on January 15, 2009 and I am able to cross off my first entry (#37). It makes me feel good to be able to cross something off, even though I STILL don't have a complete list of 101 things!
Now that I won't be obsessed at scoring 10,000 points anymore, maybe I can get some sleep!!!

January 11th, 2009 - October 8th, 2011
The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).
Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.
Why I want to do this:
My neice started this and I thought it would be fun to do. It is a long term goal and not just a 'New Years Resoluction'. Wish me luck!
